Mucho tiempo de disputas y de más o menos veladas amenazas por parte de Egipto por la decisión de Etiopía de construir en el cauce del Nilo Azul la Gran Presa del Milenio, también conocida como del Renacimiento, parece que se acaban. Etiopía, Egipto y Sudán acaban de firmar un principio de acuerdo para poner fin a la polémica y garantizar que la gigantesca, multimillonaria y polémica infraestructura no perjudicará a ninguno de los países. Egipto hacía valer un documento de los años 20 del siglo pasado en el que se reservaba el uso de casi la totalidad del uso del cauce del Nilo. Etiopía pretende hacer valer su soberanía sobre un tramo del río y su derecho a dotarse de medios que garanticen la autosuficiencia energética.
Esta semana, además, el presidente Egipcio, realizó una semana de dos días a Addis Abeba para abordar esta cuestión y otros asuntos de cooperación entre ambos países.
